Threats often create opportunities. From my point of view, the regulatory burden and the issues concerning harmonisation across European markets are currently the main threats. As a business, Société Générale Securities Services (SGSS) needs to have the capacity to take advantage of the regulatory context to tighten our links with our clients in order to better identify their needs.
I have no hesitation in identifying both T2S and the bunch of new regulations targeting the asset management industry, UCITS IV, UCITS V and the AIFM directive, as those that will have the biggest long-term impact on the industry.
