State Street has hired Keith Burman as senior managing director of private equity and real estate in Luxembourg and Ireland.

Burman takes up the newly created role to help extend the bank’s alternative investment services in Luxembourg and Ireland.

He moves from Brown Brothers Harriman in Luxembourg where he was responsible for global alternative investment fund services strategy and the company’s regulatory involvement in Luxembourg.

Burman said State Street will focus on supporting its clients in the face of increasing regulation for alternative investment fund managers (AIFMs).

One of the most important pieces of legislation that will affect AIFMs is the European Commission’s AIFM Directive, which took a step forward in November following advice from the European Securities and Markets Commission on the level II implementation measures
