Saba Capital Management, a US-based $4.7bn hedge fund, is opening a London office.

The UK branch has been launched as a research centre and sub advisor to the US limited partnership, and will be headed up by former Deutsche Bank head of leveraged finance trading, rakash Narayanan.

Saba Capital is currently awaiting FSA registration and the UK office will commence business in the first quarter of 2012.

Throgmorton, an independent back office service provider to the hedge fund, private equity and corporate finance industries, will provide a full-range of back-office services for its new UK operations.

Saba Capital was founded by Boaz Weinstein, a notable derivatives trader and hedge fund manager.

He worked at Deutsche Bank from 1998 to 2009. In 2009, Weinstein started his own credit-focused hedge fund, Saba Capital, alongside 11 members of his trading team.
