Global Investor/isf: The Asian region has been touted as the market to emerge from the crisis first. Would you agree?
Dominick Falco, BNY Mellon: In many ways I would agree with this. The impact in Asia of the global financial crisis has been less. Many firms hesitated to cut back in Asia whilst cutting back in the rest of the world. That bodes well for Asia to emerge quicker. We had issues of suspension of short sales in some markets, just like in the US and Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Some markets such as Hong Kong did not suspend short sales and recently China and India introduced new regulations on stock borrow and loan (SBL). Asia is looking very promising.
