IMN Conference: Regulation takes the stage

The first day of the annual IMN conference had a theme of regulation.
The IMN’s 16th Annual International Beneficial Owners conference is taking place in San Diego and the first day’s theme was around the potential impact of regulation of the securities lending industry.
The event, as has now become custom, was launched on Superbowl Sunday although it was the following day before the conference got underway in earnest. The debate and discussion, as always, proved to be just as hard hitting as one of the biggest days on the US sporting calendar.
Potential tax changes and alterations to shorting rules are just a couple of regulatory matters under the microscope in the industry...
