The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has said that Amaranth Advisors and its former traders Brian Hunter and Matthew Donohoe should pay $291 million in fines and penalties for alleged market manipulation in gas futures in early 2006.
The Commission accused them of manipulating the price of Commission-jurisdictional transactions by trading in the NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract in February, March and April 2006. The charges are not concerning events related...
