?The Equity Lending Survey has become the cornerstone of isf's autumn issue. Within this survey another cornerstone has emerged over the years - the Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs supremacy at the top of the rankings. But this duopoly has ended. Craig MacDonald reports.

The benchmark survey in securities finance is completed. And there are many good stories from the results.
On the lender side, the survey reads like a formula one track with so many twists and turns, rising stars, banks finally making good, and a new overall unweighted winner. The new king of the lenders, Barclays Global Investors (BGI) won the unweighted category knocking off State Street. But do not feel too bad for State Street, it did rank second in this category and did top the weighted by importance to counterparty category.
The lending side of the survey is always fast and furious with the top spot in the unweighted category constantly up for grabs...
